 >:( it would appear all my seconds have caught blight. I've cut the infected foliage off 1-2 leaves from each stem. the spuds I'm growing in straw (mains) above ground don't seem so affected possibly because there drier. The sarpo miras in the ground also look like they've caught it.

Now I've lopped off the infected leaves is there any point in spraying? or do I admit defeat?

The only confirmed case so far is in Wales, so sorry, but I doubt you have blight. I'd also be very surprised if Sarpo potatoes were blighted.

Can you take some pictures for us, please

The only confirmed case so far is in Wales,

I note that this case was in a "volunteer", which underlines what we're always saying about removing these.

Second full smith warning in my postcode today, following a couple of near misses in an adjacent postcode in the last week.

Probably not the right place to ask, but does that make a difference being an early variety, is blight not passed from potato crop to crop regardless of variety ? Maybe i'll google tonight and have a good read all about it.

I really just noted the fact because it is more unusual in earlies as they're normally finished before blight gets going too badly. Far more common in mains. :)

An early, not a maincrop.
