You had a full Smiths warning, Growster  - oh no!

ferret says blight was detected -  then that should be on the map, if it's been confirmed, shouldn't it  :unsure:

Don't thank me, thank the cats!
Know the feeling DD!  ::)

Indeed, 'we' (i.e me) are woken up by Pips between 3.44 and 3.46am precisely at the mo.  Then the dog needs to go out, then I need a cup of tea..... perhaps we could set up a 'rota' to check the blight website.  Is it not early for blight? Or is it the combination of warmth and now rain?  Last year was the first year of growing spuds on our plot, only had experience of growing in pots and bags at home before......Blight is a whole new world of worry for me....

Well, just to show I am true to my word.... Cat woke me up after I'd done laundry and maybe rested my eyes.  Dog now out in garden and kettle on.  No blight warnings that I can see on websites but really maybe too early for anything right about now.  ::) ::)

Compared to other years, we're quite late in getting a warning, although ferrett1998 reports having received one, a few posts back.

I assume this was via text. We're wondering why this isn't shown yet, maybe it's just a matter of someone gettin around to updating the site - which may not happen now for a few days over the weekend.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

It wasn't on the map Mums, and seems to have dropped off the radar now...

Won't do any good.

Blight is carried by microscopic airborne spores that will wash through fleece.

In our allotment newsletter which arrived today it states  there's now two types of blight A1 and A2.and a new strain Blue 13 which emerged a few years ago that even affects Petunias. But none has been reported in our area.
Phew.

A open ended polly tunnel was suggested in my news letter to keep off the rain and water at the base of the plant not on the leaves.

Keeping the rain off helps, but it gets into greenhouses and polytunnels, as well, sometimes. So it's not a foolproof method, unfortunately  :(

Never had blight in the greenhouse down my house but up the lotty I have and just put 2 and 2 together and it must come from the water butts up the lotty because all I use down the house is tap water.
