Wow. I have tons of leaf (it's like a jungle with my earlies) but no flower buds yet - thought it would be too early still but obviously not

Some of my earlies are growing in pots in the greenhouse. They were on planted 6 March, they had plenty of foliage, but when I tipped one out this week (13 weeks!) I only got 290gms of potatoes  :(

I hope the ones in the soil are doing better, but I'm not banking on it

Mine at home have flowers but the ones at the plot are varing from just broken the soil to one foot high plus leaves. Very hit and miss so I am waiting till the last possible time to even tempt fate.

Lot's of foliage is usually a sign of too much water, either rain of watering can. If you have flower's then now is the time to give a really heavy watering unless you have had 3 day's of rain like me.

I won't get my can out then as I think they have probably had a good few inches plus a few more in the last few days.

Last year, which was nasty weather wise, I planted new spuds in my tunnel on 19th Feb and started harvesting on 7th May. This year, I planted them in there on 24th Feb and although they've flowered, I still can't find anything more than very tiny little spuds in there. It's such a bizarre year, like everything is so confused it just stopped growing or gave up.

On the bright side, my apple trees are glorious with blossom, so fingers crossed at least they'll give a crop this year, whereas last year was the first ever time I had absolutely no tree fruit at all, total failure of pears, apples and gages.

My potatoes don't look like they are anywhere hear having flowers  :(

They are all growing foliage though - I'm really looking foward to harvesting them and having a first taste - patience is a virtue  :D

My spuds didn't even go in until the 20th April. They've needed earthing up a few times due to (correct) frost forecasts and are now about 6 inches or so high. Spuds will be late this year methinks.

Mine went in on 3rd april and have buds.

I guess they'll be ready in a few weeks?
When weeding, the best way to know if its a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull it.

If it comes out easy, it was a valuable plant !
