I have sown some sweetcorn into toilet roll tubes this week and they are growing so fast.

They are about an inch tall already.

WHen should I plant them out?

Cornwall here. I planted out nine sweetcorn which were about four inches tall and looking robust enough to go out. Planted on a sunny warm day and watered in, went back the next day and they had wilted in the evening cold.

Luckily I have loads more and will be waiting until mid-June now I think. Sick of this weather.

mine are still hardening off in my garden, cos the allotment site gets very windy!

Mine are about 9" tall and I hope to put them out next week.

I'd wait until they are a bit bigger and can cope with the great outdoors before thinking about planting them out.

Mine are out but they are looking yellow the wind has battered them, put pop bottles around six to see if I can rescue them. I need about 70 bottles though

mine went out on Thursday and have now been frosted  just hope they were deep enough to re sprout . same with the pots except  it was just a few tips that go caught .

Today for me. It was either plant or pot on. Leaves started to yellow on a few so the compost must be out of goodness. What can I feed them to cheer them up? all about a foot tall now . . . So fingers crossed the forecast is right!

Liam - plant more in a heated prop urgently - If the frost hit them - they are dead!!

Mine are going out this week with wind break, last year they all blooming snapped in the poxy wind.

I lost the odd three or four to an August gale last year, and will be a little more prepared for the odd blow this time around. But it happens with tall crops on occasion, hence Reg Presley made such an impact, bless him.
