Young Birds
« on: May 26, 2013, 16:20 »
I bought 3  2 day old legbars today that have gone straight in the brooder....  but I couldn't resist buying 2 6 week old exch leghorns too.   I've put them in with may call ducks at the moment as they are about the same size.  Are they Ok to nest with them or should I separate them, i.e the shed, overnight??

If they are going in with the call ducks you probably don't have a roosting bar in there. This is not a problem but does not encourage them to roost later on when they will probably use their laying area. If there is a roosting bar this is a problem for the ducks as they are likely to get pooped on!!
