I was out earlier today planting more and I remember thinking I'll label them later.

Later arrived and I can't think what on earth I put in. Or did I just fill five pots with compost.

It shows why labelling at the time is so important. So surprise pots they will be.

tesco direct has some great plastic labels for 99p....worth it...i carry mine when i plant and write names and just stick them in the pot.

I planted violette beans in pots which filled 2 trays. In one tray all the beans are germinated and growing well but nothing from the others....I was well perplexed  Couldn't understand it....same compost, same labels in each. Decided to have a little delve to see what what was going on.....I had forgotten to plant the seeds!!!!

He didn't know what I'd done when he bought them, typical isn't it because that just makes it funnier. (for him)

I've also made a boo boo with my lack of labling this year and can't work out what tomatoes what, the ones I thought were tumblering look very up right

Mine start off labelled .... but either the labels fall out or just go missing? Or they get all muddled at the potting on stage. I get so fed up of all the pots and not knowing what is in them. I also made the mistake of buying the wooden lollipop stick type labels (only as they were selling them off at Wilko's) - never again, the writing and wood become one making them illegible.

I use cut up old venetian blinds from when they broke at work. I have about ten years supply. Permanent pen on them stays put, they don't rot, or blow away. Cut them into 6inch sections with scissors.

Anyone recommend a permanent pen for labelling that does not fade and isn't washed away when I watered tried several but none seem permanent. I hadn't labelled two pots I had to go through my seed collection to jog my memory.
