Some more hatched and more questions ;)
« on: May 17, 2013, 12:13 »
Hi all. Im back with more questions and thanks for all those who have helped in the past, previous 2 hatches are doing great, now another hen was sitting and mow hatching, 1 chick i checked today was on his back out of the box mayb he couldnt find hos way back in dark, i put some water drops on his mouth and put him back under the mom, still had some life in, should i leave him under there or put it under the lamp?

Also i will be changing the housing of this hen when shes off the eggs, should i dus her with DE and spray frontline, would it affect the chicks when thy go in her wings?

Should i spray the floor with PS incase mites are hidding under the coop on the ground?

And what am i gona do with so many chicks ooops. Lol

I would leave the chick with Mum but just check that she is still caring for it.  If it is not under her again put it under a heat lamp.

You would need to consult a vet to see if it is safe to use Frontline near chicks as it is not licensed for poultry.   ;)

You can put DE in the bedding but make sure the dust has settled before you put hen and chicks in.

You can clean the new coop with PS before you put her in but make sure it is has dried properly.

You will have to cut down on hatching if you are going to have a problem coping with so many chicks mohs.ayaz.   ::)

The frontline is safe to use on the broody hen but not the young chicks.

That is great news, don't forget the photos when Mum lets you get a peek at them.   :)
