young blackcurrants and gooseberries

I took blackcurrant cuttings when I first got my plot and now this will be their second growing season. Almost all of them are in flower and are about a 12" high. Should I be removing the flowers for the long term benefit or will they be ok as they are. The same is with the gooseberries They are planted direct.
