The best Hoe I have ever had.
« on: May 08, 2013, 10:14 »
For Christmas I got  Wolf Garten 15cm 'Allotment' Hoe. What a great Hoe this is, it slices through all weeds never mind how tough & works on both the push & pull action.

If you want a weed free plot then I think this Hoe will do the job.

99% Organic and 1% Slug Pellets.

Allotment holder since 27th May 2007.

I wouldn't swap my "swoe" for any other!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

I need a hoe - is this the best one to get?
My husband's a water sign, I'm an earth sign, together we make mud :-)

My gardening diary is here - go on, have a peek , you might be able to help me!

You'll get a lot of different opinions, but I still wouldn't swap my swoe for any other!

One of these:

It has three cutting edges, so it slices on the back stroke as well as the forward stroke and also on of the side so you can do a side swipe as well.

You'll notice that none of the blades are quite at right angles to the direction in which you'll push or pull the hoe, this makes for an easier cutting action rather than pushing the whole edge of the blade through at once.

With the angled corner it's good for getting into hard to reach places.

Ooohhh now that does look good. I wonder if I could sneak one in without hubby noticing. I like the small point for getting into the edges of the beds.

I wouldn't be without it.

In fact after mine got nicked out of the allotment shed, I bought 2 more so I could have one at home as well!

The swoe is a great tool. I bought a Fiskars stainless steel one for OH and he loves it so much that he told me recently that for a particular non-food bed we have in the garden, I should use one of the ordinary hoes and leave his swoe for the garlic etc. :)

I noted that recently and I think it is a good deal for that particular tool, the price has come down a lot although that isn't the same Amazon seller I got it from.

Swoes take practice for precision operation - easy to get carried away and "woosh" few plants gone as well   Not that his has happened to me of course
