Still not happy with toms.
« on: May 07, 2013, 09:27 »
All four varieties of my toms have the same yellow leaf affliction. Could it be that the light levels are too low in the GH now I've done it with coolglass? I posted earlier on that I found it to seem too dark. The plants don't seem leggy due to searching for light, but could it be a lack of "proper" sunshine getting on them? Failing that, should I give them some dilute feed, or perhaps some epsom salts?

I'd try feeding them to start with.

Try a half strength feed - I started mine on that on Saturday and boy have they perked up nicely every since :)

when I clicked on the photo, I noticed the new growth was dark green.  If light levels were poor, then these are the leaves that are most likely to be affected.  It's possible that whatever caused the older leaf to go mottled has passed (maybe it was a chill, or a shortage of nutrients before repotting or any other number of reasons) and the damage is done and can't be repaired.  As I cannot see the whole plant, I may be a bit hasty in suggesting that perhaps you just nip off the older leaf.

Thanks for your thoughts.
I've been out and given the coolglass a light rubbing over with a soft brush to increase light levels, but still hopefully keep the temps down and lessen any chance of sun scorch. I've also put some of the toms outside on some shelving to see if that helps any.

I think the plant looks fine -  if it was me, I'd probably nip that odd leaf off
