[Beetroot queen]

Had a grape vine put in at the start of last year, did very little and this year has done nothing at all. I decided to dig him out as it's in an awful place between two kiwi's but I didn't have anywhere better.

Anyway just been out ready to dig when I noticed two sticky buds only two and very tight but sticky to the touch.
I haven't dug it out yet instead I logged on to ask you very wise people, could this vine still be fighting

It sounds like the sap is starting to flow. My vine hasn't shown any sign of life yet and I'm sure given how big and established it is that it's still going. Maybe give it another chance?

Grapes are mostly the last plants to wake up and they need a long term of warmth before they do so. With the late cold of this year, yours are obviously just waking up and waiting for warmer weather. Mine are still snoozing though we've had temps close to 20C lately and lots of sun.

My grape has only just come into bud after looking decidedly dead for a while. It will come back
