Welcome to the site  :)

It would help to know whereabouts in the country you are, it's usually warmer the further south you are - so click on your user name and alter your profile so we can see it, rather than having to ask you each time ;)

You're just about on a level with me. I plan on getting mine outside in 3-4 weeks. They are just popping up. You may have been a little early in sowing them, you dare not put them outside whilst there is a danger of frost.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

If you get a cheap max/min thermomether you'll find out just how cold it still is at night, even though you don't see a frost  :(

I disbelieve my max/min thermometer (Wilkinsons) - its always reading minus something when I havent thought it was that cold - I keep meaning to bring it home for a spell in our freezer to see if the digital and analogue match up.

Indoors or in a greenhouse, they will grow a lot in the next 4 weeks and you could have one big problem untangling the runners.

mine are all in individual pots so shouldn't be a problem, only if they keep going up!lol.

You'll have to keep them quite a way apart!

I know what you mean about tangling, I very nearly had that problem last year I had to be so careful getting my toilet roll tubes into individuals - without ripping off half the top growth - they also started to attach themselves to anything available...

I've not started mine yet (although it was on my list of jobs for this weekend), conscious decision to do it later than last year (which I had down as the 22nd April) - although somone has thrown out all my toilet roll tubes  ::)!

We did have a frost this weekend...

H :)

Even though I am in North London I now do not start sowing beans until May bank holiday as we always seem to get cold an windy weather at the start of May which the beans do not like. Also I only germinate them in the greenhouse and plant them out before the leaves open up.  This allows them to acclimatise and the leaves harden up as they open.
