What does b and m stand for, a penny is a penny
I have no idea, I shall ask the shop assistant when I go in today and see if they know.

Just wondered if we had one but maybe not, we have a 99p store (do they have an alternative name) and a poundland. These companies are so original when choosing a name but I suppose it does what it says on the tin.

B&M success - black planters (the 3 pot variety) for 99p...man on the market selling strawberries so I emptied my purse and got 12 plans 3 or 4 different types. Had a lovely planting session and now have a strawberry tower - if only I could get the pixle thing to work I would post a pic. So, just waiting for the fruit now!

Oh - I forgot to ask what B&M stood for - having just googled it, apparently it stands for Bargain Madness which doesn't make any sense when you add the '&'!!!
My husband's a water sign, I'm an earth sign, together we make mud :-)

My gardening diary is here - go on, have a peek , you might be able to help me!

I noticed my local poundland had them back in (the 3 pot ones as well as the 4 pot ones). But if you don't have a store near to you I did notice than wilkos had them as well, 3 pots for £6 in orange and olive green (twice the price but they do deliver).

Bargains and madness is a perfect description to describe our local poundland

We popped into B&M which opened recently in Boston.  They had black ones in there, but I think they look smaller than the poundland ones.

Remember to add some water gel, they don't half dry out quickly!

Finally got around to planting mine today. Not as high as many here, but still quite pleased with them!

Our Wilko's had them for £4.20 for 3 on the sell'em quick shelf, but they may be different sizes.

In reviewing this method for the year so far I wasn't as impressed as I think I should be

Several plants rotted.
Had to move the pots from their original spot and split them in order to move them around for the sun.
Despite feeding well with plenty of potash I didn't get a lot of fruit.

What am I doing wrong please????

It's all GrannieAnnie's fault I tried this  :tongue2:

On the plus side I have plenty of new shoots coming off the plants which I am developing roots on for planting up for the greenhouse overwinter then back up to the plot probably next year.

:) DBG thanks for bringing this back for bob .....and me. On the whole I was pleased with the towers but I did have to put some extra effort in. The towers did have to be turned frequently to get equal access to the sun. Watering was a bit critical, so next year I have decided to use water retaining gel. I will also try and catch the Plotfather in a creative mood and see can he make some sort of turntable to put them on!!! Positive points = clean fruit with no creatures eating it before me!! :)

I did use water retaining granules - but like in the tomato hanging baskets - seems to have done nothing
