Uses for ash from allotment fires.

Good morning allotmenteers!  I've been having some fires on our site lately to get rid of loads of weeds, brambles, dried grass etc.  As a result, I have a fair bit of ash.  I have heard that fruit bushes like this as it's good for their root systems or something.  I don't have many fruit bushes, so can anyone tell me what other veg would like this, or indeed, if there's anything in particular that I should avoid putting it on?

Wood ash is generally a good source of potassium (the "K" in NPK) which is needed by most plants, but especially flowering/fruiting plants.

It is fairly alkaline though, so shouldn't be used on ericaceous plants such as blueberries, and possibly with caution on potatoes as it also contains lime which is thought to promote scab in varieties prone to it, especially if the soil already contains plenty of lime.

Not 100% sure, but I don't think so (pretty tolerant of most soils except waterlogged ones.)
