Leggy Plant Question
« on: April 15, 2013, 12:26 »
Afternoon All,

I know with Tomatoes, if they are leggy, you can just transplant the plant up to the seed leaves and the plant will grow new roots from the stem, and in fact become stronger as a result.

Can you do this will all plants, as I have some leggy squashes, that I planted too early and yesterday people advised ditching them, which I will more than likely have to do and start again.
When weeding, the best way to know if its a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull it.

If it comes out easy, it was a valuable plant !

Especially cucumbers, you don't want to give them another excuse to die!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Yep - same family. I find it usually helps with root development as any stalk below the root level will send out roots.

Hmmm, that is interesting to know. I was thinking this morning that my Toms didnt look particularly stable and that maybe I should do something about it. How deep should I replant?

The seed leaves are the little round ones at the bottom (some of which are dropping off) aren't they?
