Loo Rolls Modules and Pot!
« on: April 13, 2013, 13:48 »
Now I have the cold frame erected I'm thinking of sowing

Beef Tomatoes - in Plastic Water Machine Cups
Plum Tomatoes - in Plastic Water Machine  Cups
Gardeners Delight - in  Plastic Water Machine Cups
100s and 1000s - in  Plastic Water Machine Cups
Spring Onions in Modules as suggested by DD
Runner Beans - in Toilet rolls

I don't want to get into tray sowing and then all they bother picking out and moving into pots - I have a variety of tray liner modules some bought others given and plastic water cups with holes burn in the bottom - what size module or plastic pot size, or other item would any reader suggest, I use for the

Cabbage
Cauliflower
Brussels Sprouts
Broccoli
and Peas

I wouldn't be sowing tomatoes in a cold frame yet, there will be a wide variance in the temperature, they could cook in the day and get too cold at night. Overnight temperatures are not sufficient as yet to sustain mature plants, let alone germinate seeds.

You could start them indoors and keep your fingers crossed that when they're big enough, that it's warm enough for the cold frame.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thanks for the advice - problem is Mrs Cadalot stuffs all the window ledges full of knick knacks and there is little space for anything else. Do you think I will get away with the cold frame in a couple of weeks time? I'm just itching to grow something - B&Q had all kinds of plants today Tomatoes, beans etc.  when I went to buy some sand.

With the weather we've been getting, who can tell?  :(

One thing is sure, it's not warm enough for it yet.
