Cocoyam aka elephant ear plant
« on: March 29, 2013, 17:19 »
Has anyone else tried to grow cocoyam? It is totally my favourite food and hard to find in the shops so I thought I'd give it a go (don't worry, the rest of my plot is much more sensible!)... just wondering if anyone has tried it and where to start...

It's a tropical plant so you'll need a lot of luck with our weather  ;)

Anything north of the tropical zones here and elephant plant must be grown as an annual with the bulbs taken inside for winter. Never tried eating it.

you should try eating it if you get a chance, like very creamy and fluffy potatoes!
