Filling my raised beds

Nice fine top soil in the one for carrots and use the compost in the one for beans Carrots and  root veg fork if the have to much nitrogen in the soil Beans etc make nitrogen but need to have the roots into something that will hold moisture I use old cardboard that has been soaked for a bit

Spinach, squash and peas will be ok in the bed with the manure in it. The carrots won't need the added richness of manure for the carrots.  I grew very good carrots in a raised bed with absolutely no soil in it at all, just home made compost and builders sand.   I lined it with cardboard first, fresh stuff from the leccy shop
