It's been raining around here whenever I could've got to the allotment over the last few weeks. I have some onion sets in the fridge and was wondering when the latest I can plant them would be and still get a half decent crop?

I'm 200 miles more north than either of you guys & last year  (widely reconsigned as the worst in living memory) I planted my Onion sets around 30th March & got a fantastic harvest around mid July.

I would say the middle of April is the latest date to get a guaranteed crop.

There were a couple of hours this morning where it wasn't raining and I was going to chance putting them in then, but happy to chance a few dry days over the next few weeks.

I always used to put mine in early april and had some great crops,ive seen folk down on our site be a little bit late with stuff and in the good growing months they always seem to catch up with everyone elses stuff.
