I have at least now got all the Earlies in and the ones in pots in the greenhouse have just poked through
(planted 6th March) They may just make up for the others getting planted a bit late!

As soon as it stops raining the 2nds and mains will go in  :)

Having managed to get just one very short row of earlies in at the veg garden over the road I've resigned myself to giving up and simply being late with the rows down the lottie. My only real worry is if we have a warm humid summer how long will the poor things keep their tops before it's "off with their heads" time again as usual.

It was mid April before we could get them in last year, due to wet ground. A check yesterday revealed that the ground is only about 2 ° and too cold for our liking to plant potatoes. No great rush yet. :)

At the other end of the Nation, way down south, I still think it's getting late - but better late than never I guess.

Do you suffer from hot humid summers up there Arugula? Perhaps your area is less likely to suffer from b****t so yours can stay in the ground for longer?

Dumped "outgrade" potatoes are usually reckoned to be the biggest single source of spores to kick the blight season off - they have to be growing to do that so hopefully they will be delayed by the cold too and give we spud growers a chance to catch up (2011 seems a long time ago now - there was very little blight at all in most places in the UK.)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

I was going to plant some more today, but the soil was so wet and sticky that it didn't get done  :(

We don't tend to suffer blight here. I know DD has been known to get a successful crop of potatoes planted in June and we're nowhere near that yet. :)

Don't forget that because we are directly in the Gulf Stream over here on the west coast of Scotland that we can grow plants they can only grow in Cornwall otherwise. ;)

It was the same on my plot yesterday but the sun is out now so I will go up there this afternoon and see if it has dried up a bit.  I will be glad to have my porch back ....... and so will my hubby ;)
