Ridging hoe handle
« on: March 10, 2013, 19:20 »
I have an old trenching hoe blade, it is a double ended type with the trenching piece on one end and a one inch wide blade on the other end.
I need a new handle for it which is tricky.
It is a shame to buy new when I have the blade...

The hole for the handle is oval so just over an inch in one diameter and 1.1/2" in the other diameter.

Chillington sell handles for £8 plus £7 post although I have checked to see if they will fit. but a new hoe won't cost that much.

This is the nearest design, the difference being that mine is a trenching blade rather than square.

Any suggestions please.

Try and find a hardware shop closer to home the postage for that handle is almost as expensive as the handle itself ...

How about a lump of wood from the hedgerow and a bit of whittling?

hey there,

not sure of your location, but over in the South East we have Ernest Doe ( http://www.ernestdoe.com/storelocator.html ) - they stock handles from Chillertons so might have one close to you and save the postage.

best of luck
