Im buying a incubator if my hen doesn't go broody :-) where should i start the incubator? In tge shed? Or inside the house somewhere mayb in my room?

We had ours in the utility room.  We decided against the shed or garage, because we were worried it would be harder to keep the temp and humidity stable out there.  And if the temps out there are colder, would it use more electricity to keep the eggs warm enough?

Also wanted it near enough to hear the alarm.

We have ours in the dining room, its kind of in the centre of the house so as Grannie Annie says you can hear the alarm (if the temp drifts out or bulb blows etc) and make quick spot checks when passing by. It makes it easier to turn the eggs too.

Thanks for replies. I'll keep it in my room.. Im hoping the hens go broody soon i'll let them sit in separate coops outside. :-)

We are just over half way through our first attempt at using an incubator and decided to keep it in the living room well in the shade, well away from a window and in a darkish spot. We will find out soon enough if the location was ok and if the incubation fails, perhaps we will try somewhere else the next time.

Worth remembering though there are many reasons why incubation may not be successful so it might not be due to where you have placed the incubator.

Me and the Children have wasted spent many hours watching them hatch.

Thanks guys.. Its on table in the front room. Will put the eggs in next few minutes woohooo.. Hope i get few chicks as i have sold their parents!!!
