cold frame question

I believe you use them this time of year to put young plants and seedling in (that are also cold hardy like brassicas) to protect them from frost. I been thinking about putting my spuds in mine to chit as they dont mind it cold but would be ruined by frost. and that would also stop my mother grumbling about her windowsills.

Don't do it - potatoes are ruined by cold and temps can get down to freezing in a cold frame or unheated greenhouse.

They like cool and light, so windowsills are good - even if Mother disagrees 

I've got cabbage in the cold greenhouse, so they should be fine, and I'll put my leeks out there as soon as they germinate
