Auntiemogs, I look forward to your report on how the Orange Peruche taste compared to Sungold, which is my fav cherry tom. I'd never even heard of the Peruche, so will watch for it as seeds.

I grew moneymakers last year and not sure if I sowed them too late or it was the rubbish weathers fault but I ended up with kilos of green toms in oct and only ate a dozen or so of the ripened ones earlier as they went red.  Did find they were pretty bland although still better than most cheap supermarket toms.

I'm trying Black Sea Man (courtesy of New Shoot, ty) and Marmalade (Pass the Parcel) this year so hoping to be far more impressed by their large, tasty fruits  :D

I've got Black Sea Man tomatoes to try as well, (same source!). I love the taste of the black tomatoes and find them hard to beat. I'll also be doing Black Krim & Black Cherry, plus loads of other heritage toms.

As they're destined for the unheated greenhouse and the great outdoors, they're still in my tin!

So are most of mine - waiting till mid-March for those  ;)

I've only sowed a couple of Gartenperle and a couple of supposedly very early/cold hardy varieties for my annual Early sowing experiment
If they work - well and good - if they don't they're compost ::)

DD are the black tomatoes ok to plant outdoors once they are big enough or are they best to stay in a greenhouse?

I've found that they actually seem to grow better outside. That's why I've not sown any yet.

In the foreground is a Black Krim plant, beind it, one of my greenhouses!

I have almost given up attempting to get a tomato crop outside - had one fantastic year in 2001 2005 a while back. Since then blight has made outdoor growing a waste of time and space.  :(

It's a pitty as outside toms often seem superior to indoor ones for flavour.

Seeds = still in their packets (just need to find the packets!)  ::)

Yes, We have got Yellow Centiflor (for hanging baskets), Purple Ukrainian & Britains Breakfast seedlings just poked through under lights.
Still have more to sprout later on next month though.
Its nice to hear about all the different varieties you all are growing, I find this better than the blurb on the back of the packets and inspires me on what to grow or try.

I don't yet have a greenhouse.  Where we live I will be sowing at Easter weekend for outside crops.  I have struggled with blight the last few years, but spraying keeps it at bay, although I would rather not.
Hoping for a greenhouse as a retirement present to myself, this is getting nearer!
