Whiteberries
« on: February 24, 2013, 13:49 »
My brother in law is a keen gardener.  I would like to get him something a bit different. I saw some whiteberries in a catalogue, which appear to be similar to strawberries but white in colour.  Does anyone have any experience with these?
The glass is neither half empty or half full - it is simply the incorrect size! Find a new glass!

I have them growing on my plot, but they won't fruit until this year, so I have no personal experience of the flavour yet. The reviews that I have read seem very divided - along the 'marmite' lines, with people either loving or hating them. If you decide against them, another unusual strawberry is Mount Everest which climbs.  :)

I think I have seen it in several places, but just got mine from D T Brown. I will  be interested to see whether they really climb or not. If they do, at least the slugs will have to work a bit to get at them! :)

Nooooo!!!  Just had to Google Mount Everest strawberry, and of course ended up placing an order.  Together with 3 Bishop of Llandaff dahlias and a packet of marigold seeds.

I'm now £26 lighter and its all your fault allotmentann!  :D
No matter how many plants I have in my garden, I can always find room for one more.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

I know, I am sorry. I am a sucker for the unusual, they probably won't get nine inches off the ground!
