Chicken welfare
« on: February 24, 2013, 12:36 »
Is the RSPCA interested in chicken welfare?
I've just heard that a keeper in my area lost a couple of hens to a fox attack and another two have been injured. The owner is away but doesn't want the injured ones taken to the local vet (their beaks are damaged) as she feels our local vets are not poultry familiar.
I'm concerned these birds are suffering unnecessarily.
Any advice please.

If you are seriously concerned you have every right to contact the RSPCA  Without the public's help  it is difficult for them to find these cases and to do their job. They will asssess the situation and take any necessary action and, unless you tell them, your neighbour need not know who informed them.
