Ailsa Craig onions - coming up in the conservatory.  Leeks have germinated in the coldframe.  I have garlic and onions in the ground and salads under a cloche.  In the greenhouse, I have salads and have planted sweet peas, nigella overwintering and broad beans.

Plan to kick off more by the end of this week - cabbages, caulis, tomatoes, chillis and aubergines.

Broad beans ready to go in but ground swings between water logged and frozen
Leeks, cabbage, Brussels, lettuce, onions and cauli in greenhouse
Toms, chillies, aubergines (for the VERY last time as I don't get that much from them and every year say I won't do them again), cucumbers, tagetes and marigolds on windowsills.
Potatoes chitting .......
Phew, didn't realise I had done all this.
Shallots have rooted in pots in greenhouse and ready to in ground a.s.a.p and onion sets ditto.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

Onions and garlic bulbs planted pre Christmas are coming through nicely.

Turnips will go in later this month once I've bought some compost and I might pot up some Brussels. Need to clear more of my plot before I can do much more though.

The Kelse onions
A few tomatoes destined for a heated greenhouse
Sweet Peas
Early cabbage
Early caulis
Peppers
Chillies
Pelargoniums
6 peas
9 Potatoes in pots
Nearly 300 chitting

Way too early to think about cucumbers and the like where I am. Another month yet for me.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

The only stuff I have started off so far are chillies   :) with peppers next on my list followed by tomatoes destined for the greenhouse.  I'd forgotten about onion seeds ....

For outdoor cropping, most will not get sown until about mid-March (... that's only about 3 weeks away  :D) and then summer crops such as sweetcorn and squashes won't be until mid-late April.  I had planned on sowing some broad beans outdoors (Dreadnought and Express) under cloches this weekend but the weather seems to be sliding back into winter so I think I'll wait now.

Potatoes and oca are chitting away on the windowsills.

I've started:

Alpine strawberries
White onions (Bedfordshire)
Red onions (Red Bacon)
Sharlotts

3 x 2 varieties of Chillies
3 x Tomato (Sweet and neat only)

Thinking of starting some sweet pepper and sweet peas soon (maybe this weekend!)

The tomatoes and wild strawberries have germinated but nothing else (I'm sure it was quicker last year!)

Hannah :)

3 pots of sweet peas about 6" tall
half a tray of winter lettuce leaves
half a tray of spring onions
6 chillies already 2" tall
12 peppers again 2" tall
Seed potatoes chitting on window cill - eventually they'll go in pots in the heated greenhouse just until the frost risk passes in the first week of May

this weekend I'm going to plant up some dahlia seeds and sit them on my southfacing window cill.

In about 3 weeks time I shall start off the tomatoes with a view to putting them in a heated greenhouse.  I shan't start a cucumber off until probably mid April.

Just seed onions and shallots - Kelsae, bedfordshire, red baron and figaro at the minute with more to go.

6 peas
This reminded me to re-read your and Bill's Kent blue thread, DD

My 10 seeds are still tucked in their packet you sent - any chance of a few tips on when / how best to sow etc.  I'd forgotten what a big plant your one seed grew too  :D. Hope I do them justice!  Thanks

You could do a lot worse than I did last year.

I started my solitary pea off in a pot early April in the greenhouse, (only frost free at that time). Let it get to about 6" high, hardened it off, planted it out & left to its own devices, other than watering & staking.

I've got to re-think my sowing/planting when when it comes to this one this year, do I do a lot with smaller spacing, or a few with loadsa space?
