positioning of a cold frame
« on: February 08, 2013, 10:27 »
Hi,

Just built a new cold frame for my plot and was just wonderingabout postioning of it. Its wood frame with two glass window openings that are on a slant.

I have a south facing plot. Is it best to have it facing west so i have benefits from morning and mid day sun or facing west so cooler in the morning? Or does it not make a difference. Facing south is out of the question due to positioning available.

Cheers

I don't like them to face the early morning sun, if the plants have got very cold overnight then the sudden warming can be sudden death to young plants  :(

Cheers I will position it so it faces evening sun. Makes sense now you put that plus it should then be warmer overnight.

Cheers ever so much x

All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

Mine face south-west, but only because that is the way my plot is alligned. So far, no problems. :)
