I have aquired some Kohl Rabi seeds but I don't think i have enough space to grow them this spring. I have heard it is possible to sow them later in the year to over winter? Is this true and if so when is best time to sew and are they ok outside in the winter months? It's the Purple Vienna variety if that makes a difference? Know it's a bit of an older type.

You can sow them later but they may be best harvested when ready if you have anywhere to store them.  I have had Purple Vienna stand the winter weather on a plot in Scarborough but it was on a hill, it depends where you are and what your soil is like.

I sowed my Kohl Rabi at the normal time and had a couple when small.  I left the rest in the ground and last week I was amazed to see 'Indian club' like objects above the ground, I picked a green one and a purple one, peeled and cooked them.

A bit like celery/turnip/artichoke.  Would be a great addition to a winter stew or grated in a salad.  Yes, they overwinter quite well.
