mushrooms
« on: February 02, 2013, 20:00 »
Visited a garden centre today while I was there I noticed a mushroom kit, I said that after the first picking (which could last upto four days) you might get a second picking!!! What I would like to know is is this the same for all mushroom kits?

Good luck with the mushroom kit!!

A lot of people have tried them and achieved absolutely zilch. I think I've tried about four different over the years, followed the instructions to the letter and I've yet to see a single mushroom.

Much more fun to forage for them.

I would like to know how to do this! I have a,ways had good success with the mushroom kits and had 2-3 flushes from each kit. You have to follow the instructions exactly though!

I tried a mushroom kit once, for a bit of fun. Following the instructions, it gave me four crops each about the equivalent to the size of punnet I would normally buyevery week. At around £4.00 for the kit, it cost me the same as four punnets of musrooms too. :)

Oooh now I am very excited - you can buy dowels that grow on tree stumps (I have several on my plot in a group) and on logs - again I have massive ones edging my plot. Off to do some reading....

Tried a button mushroom kit once - if you enjoy experimenting by trying to grow something different it's quite good fun, but as a way of saving money compared with shop-bought it just wasn't as far as I was concerned.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
