I think I must be one of the lucky ones. Our site is town council run and my plot is 150 square metres. Last year it cost £11.97, including water and the site has a security fence. Just before Christmas I got a rather apologetic letter explaining just why the rent was going up to £12.27.

I really don't know how some councils justify three figure rents.

One report I've seen in Leeds suggest the council may try to put up the rents from £38.50 this year, to around £160!

I doubt (and really hope) that it won't happen though.

Our rent is calculated on £4.50 per rod and includes water, membership of the lottie trading hut, but no toilets. We used to get a skip once a year but this stopped a year ago as it got filled with non-lottie holder rubbish (mattresses as you can imagine).
We get manure and wood chips delivered sporadically, this goes really quickly, and you have the option to pay £5 per year to have the grass path round your plot cut throughout the year.
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

100+ on the waiting list ??
Sometimes my plants grow despite, not because of, what I do to them.

I pay £40 a year for 125 sq m which seems good value to me. A plot near has a nice riverside location but because it is private they pay £240 a year!

320 Euro per year for 270 Sq Mtrs - private site, very few public ones here in Ireland and where they do exist there are massive waiting lists ::).  At the moment we don't pay for water but I suspect that will change later this year.

Our allotments are run by a trust and are £10.00 a year for 10 pole with water and a locked gate. some one cuts the grass too. OAP 1/2 price and the proffits? get donated.

They vary from one place to another Islip are £15.00 for 10 with no water. I'll get the phone number for you, they like to give locals priority but you never know.

Please don't post the number on the open forum.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
