DEAD RAT ON MY PLOT
« on: November 30, 2007, 19:22 »
Can anyone advise:

Yesterday I found a dead rat, about 10 inches long on my plot - just above a drainage ditch (about 4 ft deep filled with small pebles).

There was no sign that it had dug up from below and no other visible signs I could see. I had not put any rat killer down anywhere. There had been an illegal rubbish dump close by until it was cleared away a few weeks ago.

Are you looking for theories on how it got there or what?  Poisoned elsewhere I imagine.

I do not know what advice you are looking for, bury it deep, far from where you are growing, as it probably died of poisoning.

i'd agree with gobs and wg - probably was poisoned elsewhere. rats are VERY common, even if you don't normally see them out and about.

our cats keep bringing dead rats home - i just put them in the rubbish bin.

The bloke across the way used to throw dead ones over onto my plot, until I started nailing them to his shed door.      :!:
