Sadly mine never got to ping pong ball size  :(
My biggest one was tennis ball sized but wow what a flavour it packed.  I loved it and will def grow again! But I have never grown from seed before so the above advice is being taken on board.

I sowed under heat in February. Fast forward to August and a lot of them never produced bulbs - so I ate the stalks. Celeriac likes it rich and moisture retentive and well-weeded.
