Flowers or greenery shouldn't come above the height of the handle. Depends if you want an all round design or view from just the front. Put a strong frame of greenery in first, having conditioned it,( soak in cold water for 24 hrs). Next put colour in,flowers etc, try not too have 1 right in the middle, off centre in is good. You could add ribbons on a wire to add a different texture. No mechanics/oasis should show.

You need an odd amount of focal flowers i.e 3 or 5 roses, Then a second flower like 5 stems spray carnation or alstromeria and then a filler, gyp, solidago or wax flower. Arrange in this order after you have a shape with your foliage.  As you are making it yourself I don't think your Daughter will mind that it may not be perfect, as it's made with love you can't go wrong  :)

hi just to let you know about my flower arrangement. Oh cracked a rib 23rd,weather for the 25th was looking grim, so i did,nt  go and buy flowers. About 4pm on 24th called in my local woolshop and mentioned what had happened. The lady said she could do table arrangements and she had 2 little dishes with oasis 59p from h... b....ns, mine cost a lot more from a garden centre. I ran across to the c.-.p to buy 2 bunches of flowers, friend raided next doors greenery, they would,nt have minded as friends of my daughter and by 5pm we had 2 amazing arrangements. Oh said he could manage the drive to Hull on 25th, every service area we pulled into the snow caught us up. My daughter cried when she saw these amazing flowers placed each end of her hearth. So ladies and gents if i can do them, i am sure lots can. My lilies, dahlia, chrysanths from the plot will be put to other uses from now on. Sorry no piccys to show.
