Oh dear I fell asleep in the chair  :nowink:

Anyway .. Here's this mornings picture - it looked much nicer last night in the evening sun  ;)

2 cubic yards of rubble
2 tonnes sand / cement
80 bricks
70 slabs
and some saddle-back coping - I need some more (never let the BM covert the imperial into metric for you  :nowink: )

The observant amongst you may have noticed some the slabs aren't fully flat, I can assure you this was entirely by design and nothing to do with the fact they seem to be random a thickness and I didn't check them before I started.  ;)

Lardman the slabs give it extra character,
Now where are all the extra pots like my garden  over flowing with extras that cant fit in the veg patch.

That looks cracking Lardman, careful with imbibing up there though - don't want you tripping over slabs...who would look after the seed parcel then?  ;)  :D

Looks like a hell of a lot of effort to get it looking that good.

PS my kitchen floor is similar - each tile is independently level, just not necessarily with its neighbour  :nowink:

In my kitchen each tile is flat in relation to its neighbour, but the floor isn't level! it slopes towards one corner - I blame the bubble in the level  ::)

Lardman the slabs give it extra character..

This house has enough "character" without me adding more  they're dry laid on 4" of 10/1 so when the base has gone off a bit I'll pop them up and level things off.

Im still not convinced it's been worth all the effort for an extra 4ft of flat patio, everything has had to be carried by hand in a tub trug either up or down 8ft of steps.  As for pots , don't tell anyone but I still have 2 empty beds in the veg patch with no plans, besides didn't you notice the pot of self set strawbs I fished out from between the old slabs.

PS my kitchen floor is similar - each tile is independently level, just not necessarily with its neighbour  :nowink:

Don't get me started on the kitchen floor ! That more out of level than the old patio was .

That looks brilliant Lardman and loads of space for some pots!  :D

As for level....my whole bungalow seems to be on the list - I only notice when I try to put something level and it looks odd... ::)

There is a big improvement there. Not worth the effort! Think of how fit you will have got lugging stuff up and down the steps! If you hadn't done it, it would only have irritated you every single time that you looked at it. Forever more you would have sat there with your cold beer thinking how you wished you had done it.  :)

Im not a big fan of sitting out in the sun, being sunken and south facing it can (an does) get up to silly temperatures out there.

As well as making the area look less like a besom yard, I thought Max would like something other than a building site to play on. Also note the sink has gone - it's in the utility. It's not plumbed in yet though, baby step  :D

A utility's the work of mere days Lardman, surely Max needs a nice downstairs bathroom to scrub up in after playing outside.... ;)
