Oh no! I've got the same problem as Ema, the only other plants upstairs with them are oxalis which I've been slowly almost killing then reviving for about 6 years. I noticed it yesterday before going back to work so won't be able to do anything until Friday now  hope they aren't  too bad when I get back  :(

Oh dear. The aphids won't kill sweet potatoes but you'll likely have a healthy crop of ahpids when you get back.

Mine are getting this too! it is almost like salty crystals but inside the leaves. and I'm pretty sure they're not suffering with aphids as I haven't seen any at all, and they're in pots on the windowsill in my living room.
Touché Away......!

Turtle that's exactly what they look like green salt crystals. I wonder if its some sort of sweet potato specific virus. I cut the odd looking leaves off just incase it helps will update if I get new growth

I found the same thing developing on mine so I checked the various diseases and pests that bother sweet potatoes, and found nothing close.

I can only guess that the potatoes might be reacting to something in our water and building up these crystals. I ran mine under the tap and gently scraped off the crystals. This week I'll twist them off and pot them up, and expect I'll no longer have the crystal problem.

At first I thought it might be aphids but you'd see the typical honeydew and ants, followed by the honeydew turning black with mold. Since this isn't the case, it's probably the water. I've since switched to using a more pure water from my special filtered water unit, suggested by another sweet potato grower.

Been following the instructions on here and am delighted to have just planted 4 slips from our first sweet potato. The other is just starting to sprout after 5.5 months of sitting on the bedroom windowsill next to the other which has 7 big slips on. Patience definataly paid off but what a wait!  ::)

It can be a long wait at times, and I think this year I'll start mine in November even though the official 'new' thread starts January.

Just wondering when people are planning to plant these out? I've had to re-pot all my slips once already and they are growing fast on the windowsill - I'm just scared to risk the crazy weather out there!

I've put two in the ground, but with a coldframe over them - they are still growing well, so I think they'll be ok.

I have another in a large bag in the greenhouse, again that's growing well too!

Planted mine in final large pots in the green house.  They had been in there already fop a few weeks.  The older slips already had tiny potaoes forming in the base on the pots :)

Even a large pot indoors for now will do the trick, Sunny.
