Why don't you make soup with them?

I didn't have any greens left, just roast carrot, spud and parsnip, and truth be told there wasn't much of even that. I'd cooked them in goose fat and I was a bit heavy handed with it, so they were a bit on the greasy side. Fine to eat hot and fresh, but I wouldn't have thought they'd make a nice soup with all that grease. Have to admit I don't do a lot of soup making cos my husband isn't that keen on it.

Those leftover veg, with the introduction of a little newly cooked green would make good bubble and squeak. :)

Just made a lovely soup with last night's leftover veg.  roast potato and parsnip, broccoli and brussels, carrot and the gravy and onion from the braised sirloin steak (grown locally! lol)

Just added a drop of stock, little salt and pepper and Brian added some worcestershire sauce to his dish!
My roasties were cooked in goose fat too, but after draining they weren't greasy

I've still got the chicken in the fridge - must either bin or cook it today.

Used the chicken stock earlier to make a rather tasty leek and potato soup  :D
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Still got loads of cheese, some pate, the chick's in soup and casseroles in the freezer.

There are still loads of different sorts of sweets, which really can wait until the trousers fit again...

And a few pounds of nuts too...

Still have Christmas treats uneaten in the freezer, e.g mince pies, white chocolate icecream with cherry ripple, white chocolate mousses and a chocolate, cherry, kirsch, cream  roulade. But they can be trotted out to brighten up the Winter blues.

Still have a very large bargain box of fresh dates, (can make sticky toffee apple puddings, with those) Thorntons chocolates unopened and some homemade coffee and hazelnut macaroons and coffee, chocolate and cardomom biscotti.

Had the urge to make fudge to go in a gingerbread cottage and have some salted chocolate fudge, walnut and whisky left over so may make these into icecreams or biscuits.

The turkey and ham is all gone and the last of the beef will be gone tonight along with a chicken liver pate I fished out of the freezer.
Ingedients for the best dish of the season,(turkey soup) is waiting in the freezer.
Still have speciality breads in the freezer and some cheese left in the fridge to go with them.

Probably won't need to go shopping again until February.

I reckon if it's still in the freezer, it shouldn't count as leftovers - cos it never got started on  :D

My ham joint is still in there plus a leg of lamb which was for a family get together which was cancelled because everyone had the lurgy :(  there's also a couple of panettones in there and egg white and raspberries for a pavlova

That's where the other cabbage went  :D

Not sure if I want to do more, an apple pie or make some mincemeat with them.

I vote for apple pie  :)

Only had 1 box of chocs which was a Thornton's mixture.  Just eaten the last 3 and currently drinking a campari & soda (premixed mini bottle as part of a gift pack).  Not sure about the campari - sort of sweet and bitter at the same time

Might have to have a glass of vino just to take the taste away

Keep on with the Campari, News!

If that's your first tasting, then just wait until you have the second, and from then on in, you'll be pleasantly hooked!

Promise!

I went through exactly what you describe, and was only wishing we had a bottle a few days ago...;0)

Now there's a thought.  Where's the red cabbage I made before Christmas?  Can't see it in the fridge ... don't remember freezing it ...

Loads of stilton left so it will be portioned and frozen and used later for broccoli and stilton soup and squash and stilton risotto.  ???

Camembert and brie stinking out the fridge, but the gloopier the better imho.  :D

Does Stilton get more crumbly with freezing, Moggs?

We never used to freeze cheese until we noticed chums doing it here!
