Poor thing!

Turned over a greenhouse border and took out loads of raspberry and bindweed roots, and put in 2 of 10 tomato plants. Got to go to the cinema now  ::) so will plant the rest later.

All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

Hoed the parsnips, carrots, peas & broad beans. Then weeded lots & lots. Made a cup of tea for J & M. Came home & cut the grass.

A flower and fruit afternoon after a hard morning plastering.
Fed the Autumn raspberries, soaked the Summer ones. Rhubarb conquered.
Blackberries given some space from the nettles. Spotted and re-sited some seeded nasturtiums under the sweet corn.
A perfect Summer afternoon, the best this year in many ways, before the return next week of the spirit dulling murk we have become accustomed to. Will grab a Mid Summer celebration at Penzance on Saturday.

Gorgeous day at the plot and the seaview was amazing.

I started digging over the bed for the sweetcorn.  This was a bed which originally consisted of the compost heap and bonfire location, but there was still plenty of couch and other weeds.  Usually, I would have developed this bed as a lasagne bed, but I intend to hand this plot back at the end of the season, having taken on a plot adjacent to my original one.  I therefore need to feed the soil with chicken manure and then mulch with newspaper and grass clippings to keep the weeds down.

A fellow plotholder kindly gave me some poppy seedlings, so I interplanted the dahlias and cornflowers in the cut flower and pollinator beds with these.

Digging, weeding, watering. A nice neighbour had cut the grass round most of the plots.

With the new allotments only opening part way through June we seem to be so far behind everyone else this year. However, I have 3 rows of early potatoes all about 3 inches high and the second lot of runner beans are looking healthy.

I am off Thursday and Friday so will try to prepare enough ground for peas, carrots and chinese cabbage. Also still need to build my compost heap.
Breaking new ground.............literally!

Nipped to the plot on the way home from work and watered everything.  It was all very dry.

Weeding , hoeing and more weeding around the Gooseberries , then weeded the asparagus bed as last heads have been cut. Then collected some new potatoes for supper , given some broad beans by a neighbour so gave her some new potatoes so both happy.watered the apple trees and went home to enjoy the potatoes and broad beans. It just makes it all worth while.

Got to the allotment twice today,  :D this morning before picking up DD from nursery I added to the compost bin, weeded and then a kind gentleman who has taken on a nearby gave me some white and purple sprouting broccoli, and even helped me pop it in as he knew I didn't have much time.
I then popped back after tea with my girlies and found the 'gentleman' had covered my broccoli with chicken wire. There really are some very kind people around aren't there!
More weeding, watering....slowly getting rid of my grassy bits!
