I'm currently having a break in the sunshine.
Have been digging and weeding on my mate John's plot all morning until now and he's kindly let nme use his 'brassica house' basically a full size to stand up in structure covered in enviromesh type stuff! :D. Ideal! I was running out of room!
Have just dug over, chicken pelleted and limed the soil and will plant my broccoli in there this week!

I then planted out 17 celeriac 'Monarch'; a load of 'Red Drumhead' cabbages, sowed a row of 'Purple Top Milan' turnips and watered everything  including another plot I'm caring for this week.

Planted my new grafted tom set in the greenhouse too - 1 'Sweet Million' 1 'Shirley' and 1 'San Marzano'

I am exhausted!

Planted out some lettuce, mint and another cucumber (suicide strikes again)! Moved one of the 3 waterbutts as we'd managed to empty it watering tonight in anticipation of moving the gate to the plot from side to end.

Not at the plot but in the potting shed- sowed 48 sweetcorn, pumpkins, courgettes, asparagus, artichokes.Cleaned all the plant labels with thinners to get rid of the old writing.

Communal skip and scrap metal collected today so it all looks tidier now!

I set up the watering scheme in my GH today and cemented in the first post for the espaliers.

I also added more cut grass to the potato beds.  I added another layer to the last lasagne bed.

I planted the second tranche of squashes, including three in the sweetcorn bed.

I popped to the GC today and picked up some compost so I could pot on the peppers, aubergines, chillis and sweet potatoes.

Had a chat with fellow plotholders and admired a green roof on another plot.

Netted strawberries, planted sunflowers out, sowed raab, pak choi, dwarf beans and some other greenery. Tied in purple beans, planted 2 squash in rotted manure pile and did a bit of light weeding and watered celeriac. Doesn't sound a lot for 2.5 hours!

Sowed some indoor cucumbers for cold frame, a few broad beans and loads of watering
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

Weeded in between the strawberries, raspberries, and gooseberries... The slugs have a nice clear path to the strawberries now... Should save them a bit of time!!!

Watered, and hoes the paths.... I really should get some black weed sheeting and wood chip.....
When weeding, the best way to know if its a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull it.

If it comes out easy, it was a valuable plant !

The weeds still come through, although they are easier to pull out. We have two plots with wood chip paths, the third plot is just being done in slabs ( stupid weeds ) that should stop em  >:(

I dont think anything will stop them..... where there is sunlight, there is weeds.....

They even grow through tarmac in the roads of our estate.

Council Tarmac, not surprised lol. I remember watching it being laid years ago. Not much thickness to it.
I just keep pulling them out a bucket a day keeps the weeds at bay

They still grow through 2 layers of weed sheeting and a thick layer of woodchip - just less of them and easier to pull ;) ::)
