2 more barrows of top soil moved from the garden to the plot.
Weed controlled 2 of the new paths where we've expanded the plot this year, and shifted a large pile of excess bits of wood that we're not sure yet if we're going to need so not chucking them out just yet.

Compost bin is nearly done, honestly it's fit for a queen to use. He's blacked all the sides, wired the bottom, moved one load of half rotted compost up the hill, only eight more bags to go.

I did offer to help ( secretly I was hoping he would say no) he did phew lol not sure I am up to wheeling all that up the hill to the plot lol. I am all for equal rights but there is a time and a place.

Turned the compost and added nettle tea, planted lettuce, beet root, purple sprouting, earthed up potatoes, weeded onions and everything else, squashed slugs, watered everything.

Got given a sunflower, so planted that.  Came home.
first there is a mountain then there is no mountain then there is

Cleared up loads of weeds (amazing what can grow in a week!) and dug a bed over before peas brocolli and beans go in next week.

Will go there mid-week and do some weeding. Council are also going in this week to repair all the fence's as the post's have become a bit loose.

Did loads this morning - felt good to have a productive morning after the last week or so where it felt I was going backwards. I planted out some more strawbs that arrived, planted out my brassicas and my hardened off Toms. Bit scared about putting them out but they have been outdoors on the balcony for 2 weeks now and haven't been in at all so they should be fine...

I also did loads of weeding as the bindweed was having a field day (thanks goodness it is only on the back half of my plot).

I also decided to explore the half a plot 'I can extend into' in a bit more detail (it has never been cultivated and is very weedy and has lots dumped into it. I found lots of logs around 6-8 inches thick that the bark was falling from. When I removed the bark I was left with smooth, 'bleached' logs which have made a perfect edging for 2 new smaller beds I had cleared the space for and they look really good - especially for freebies!

In the greenhouse (to escape the drizzle):
Sowed more lettuces - 6 varieties,
Sowed more basil and greek oregano,
Sowed Russian Tarragon (still waiting for my French tarragon plants)
Sowed Summer savory,
Transplanted some of my red cabbages 'Red Drumhead' sowed way too many!

Did you forget to mention that you also spent all day growing a baby! I should think he didn't ket you push the wheel barrow up the hill. When I was pregnant with our first child, hubby came home after work one Saturday to see me & my friend with our feet up at either ends of the sofa,he asked what we had been doing all day & I replied "I don't know about her but I've been growing a baby"-he went & cooked the tea

Don't get any sympathy in this house, I carry a harp in and out of school each week. Lol the teachers go mad when they see me. Hubby just said you got pregnant.  he can be lovely but he needs a few days in a pregnancy suit  ::)

I can finally post on this thread!!

Today we cleared the shed, disinfected the greenhouse and got a raised bed established.  Yesterday we planted broad beans, first early potatoes, and red onions. Also tied back some raspberry canes and did some ground clearance

It's a good job I don't have my gate key yet as I'd be down there everyday  :D
