Not on the plot by I helped Mr S assemble the 2 new planters he has made me for the patio. I've planted the brown turkey fig in one & intend them for all edible plants as they are by the kitchen door. I'm thinking of salad leaves,radish,baby beetroot,small carrots.
Any other suggestions gratefully received. I've already got a herb bed on the opposite side.

I know this isn't a 'what I did on the plot' comment, but really I'm really interested in how Mr S constructed the planters. They look great.

For the first time for ages I could see the soil so ventured up the garden to have a closer look-see.

Looked for signs of life from the garlic - nope.

Looked for signs of shoots from the shallots - none, so squeezed one (still firm.)

Cold wind, so came back in.

Had nice hot cup of tea.

Put new felt on the shed roof and Pulled up some weeds.

Built a wormery.

Sowed parsnips.  Took the cloches off the broad beans.  Seaweed fed the brassicas. Sprinkled potash around the rasps and blackberries. Found a flower....

Took off the teram where the spuds are going and in they went all 7 rows of them they got 2 chances now.

Going stir-crazy by late afternoon so shoved pot roast in the oven and headed up to the plot and moved 10 wheelbarrows worth of manure to various compost bins to top them up and into raised beds where squash are going later on. Checked broad beans and they seem to be ok.
Didn't feel like much done but all I could do given the ground is still so cold.

Rough dug an area 50ft x 20ft , boy can i feel it in my back. Sowed some Rudbeckia cherry Brandy. Watered in the GH and tunnel, it was 20 degrees in the GH.

I also did some rough digging (36ft x 10 ft) and I am suffering now.  Potted up my dahlias, chrysanthmums and Glads.  Watered  all the seedlings in my polytunnel.

Potted on tomatoes and peppers. Tidied up polytunnel. Used my new thermos flask and had lots of coffee!!!

Put some netting in the lotty shed, so glad we refelted the shed roof yesterday as it started to snow again.

Yesterday I dug over some more of the plot - only 6ft by 20ft and that was enough. The soil's really heavy because its clay and still wet. Mind you, I remember last year it was baked hard and I needed a pickaxe so its not all bad.

Planted three raspberry canes in a newly dug area and watered in the cold frame. Some of the onion sets needed pushing back in, surprised but they had good roots already
