Started to clear my strawberry bed, wasnt going to as its its last year (been in for three years this year) but thought if I thined it might get a half decent crop (weather permitting!) this year. Also Started cleaning  the greenhouse glass before I get my toms in.

I always change my strawberry bed on year 4 too. :) I'm buying new stock next couple of weeks.

Planted out 44 Stuttgarter Giant onion sets (well sprouted and/or rooted. They'll get well watered in overnight because of the rain! :D

Lovely day today. Feared it would be raining all weekend so thrilled when it stayed dry.
Went to the lotto with my wife and two little nippers. Lots of digging and mulched the currant bushes.

Trying to decide if I've left it too late to divide one of my older rhubarb crowns.  Hmm. Not sure.

Happy days.  :)

spent a few hours on the plot tried to weed the strawberry bed I've inherited but decided it was just too far gone and will need a full dig over there's a lot of docs in there at 1 end more docs than strawberrys.

I spot dug the nettles and docs out of half the plot but it really was too wet to be digging a bed.

put a few of the shallots back that the birds had pulled up.

Had a wander round to see what everyone else was up to.

Made the firm decision that I'm going to put a lot of cardboard down and kill the weeds that way.

I was going to collect some Manure this morning but with the weather as it is, I seem to have lost all enthusiasm.

Dug out the leeks on plot one and manured and dug over ready for brassicas later on.
Filled compost bin on plots one and two with manure to rot down.
As each half plot is it either end of the site, was a trek with the wheelbarrow. Good job I had the OH to help. Double the wheelbarrows, Half the time.
Put raspberry canes into two new raised beds on plot two that were finished last weekend. Mulched with rotted manure.
Put broad bean plants in plot one. They've been out in the garden for over a week so well hardened off. Just hope they survive the snow.
Put manure onto raised beds and will dig in during the week (weather permitting) whilst awaiting bargain black currant bushes that will go in as soon as they arrive.
Nipped back this afternoon with wooden crate that will be compost bin three on second half plot. Just  managed to get it into place as the snow flurries started.
All in all a great day.
And had tea and cake with daughters in lieu of Mother's Day.
 :D
I have my own cement mixer and not afraid to use it!!

had more rain over night here so didn't fancy digging and I seem to have pick up one of the colds going round.

Sowed some toms and more peppers in my garage and have now brought them inside the house.

Checked on the seeds in the mini greenhouse spinach and coliflowers are up but no sign of the sweet peas.

Collected some big bits of cardboard and will have the pleasure of taking the staples out in a bit.
