Sowed some more peas and beans for the allotment shop, I have lost count of how many.
Turned over what is to be the cut flower bed.
Sowed Aquilegia, Antirrhinum, Scabious, Sunflower, Nasturtium in trays in the greenhouse.

actually got to the plot today, did some digging and managed to get 1 row of potatoes planted up, picked a few stray baby leeks from outside the main leek area and bought them home for the pot.

On the plot finished planting up the strawberry bed and started putting the netting in place, then tidied up the back of the plot. trimmed some of the hawthorn hedge a little.  At home transplanted 40 cornflower seedlings and 10 tomato plants. Relaid 4 flags stone that had become uneven, then loaded up my car with 3 wheelbarrow loads of bricks from the demolished raised bed. Off to the tip tomorrow.

I passed a house having windows reaced so I got 3 windows for coldframes. I potted up some dahlias, put onion steps into modules, potted on some early annual flowers and realised that I have already almost ran out of room jn the greenhouse already. Work to so to get coldframes ready at the allotment!

And I did absolutely nothing on Tuesday apart from look feel morose on and off when I had the time.

I would so have loved to clamber on my bike and cycle off into the distance to spend the day at the plot but…… no help today and as my carer’s role has to come first when others are busy / ill the opportunity slipped by again.

“We” had a nice day though… a sit in the conservatory in the sun, a hair-do from a visiting hair-dresser, enjoyable breakfasts, lunches and dinners, watched tv and squeezed in a few short naps. Makes up for it I guess.

There's always tomorrow....   :)

what I did today
Just sown 6 of each Butternut Squash "Hunter", "Sunburst" squash, a small spanish cucumber called Marketeer and a Spanish bendy cucumber called "Alficoz"  grows a bit like a green snake but tastes divine, just slice and put into some olive oil, garlic & herbs for a few hours before eating - scrummy, no need to peel it.  Could try it with normal cucumbers as well.
Now what shall I do today?

down my other half plot today after a trip to the drs for my bad back. dug about 3ft of the whole width and planted my first row of potatoes on that plot, amazingly my back didnt seem to suffer at all for the work I did, it seems to stiffen up when i sit for a while, on the other hand the tops of my legs are suffering.

I took a newly bought dalek from Aldi and that's it for today. At home started off some iceberg lettuce and a mushroom kit
All the way from my allotment in beautiful Derbyshire. I'm in year 3 of my allotment and wish I'd caught the bug years ago, things growing from strength to strength

Sowed 4 different varieties of beetroot into a 40 cell module tray, 10 seeds of each and hopefully followed every 2-3 weeks by sowing more! They were:
!. "Boltardy" ever reliable.
2."perfect 3"
3. "Detroit 2" Crimson globe
4. "Pablo"F1 hybrid.
Only ever tried "Boltardy" before and it has always done well for me, so as I have these other seeds giving them a try!!
Also sowed some "greyhound" cabbage.
