I just wanted to say, that you are probably wrong on that one, but there is proof.

I might be poohed for this, but I do buy frozen Hungarian free range goose from Lidl. Once tried it was gorgeous, so keep getting it.

Only have whole bird before Christmas time and they sell out very fast.

never cooked Goose we usually have beef and a turkey crown 'cos i hate turkey!!got to have pigs in blankets although i usually eat them all before serving :lol: I did beef one boxing day and we all went to the pub "for 1" a few later came back and the beef was like kittie cat but we were to drunk to notice :lol:  :lol:im also known for leaving things in the oven last year it was yorkshire puds didnt realise till half way through dinner!!

Oh does the cooking, so it will be some vegetarian gourmet surprise (the surprise being that we're hoping to be volunteering so won't have a Christmas dinner this year), we're both athiests anyway, he's an ex-Catholic and I'm an ex-Jew! He has done some yummy meals before though, one being a chestnut, shallot and some posh mushroom bourgignon pie.

Pastry (IMHO) was only invented to stop you getting your fingers mucky, I love the fillings for quiche, pies, custard tarts, etc but with the exception of choux pastry, it's hardly a taste sensation.

That's the thing Aunty I'm brill at pastry, but rubbish at sponges, something to do with cold hands I think, but I'm not keen on it.

very large ham glazed with maple syrup,soy sauce, cloves, mustard etc- not that i dont dislike turkey- just that a large glazed ham is a favourite and  a real treat

Local bronze turkey this year though we are more thanhappy with leftovers,we put chestnuts into the cavity so soup is delicious.If no one is visiting we have goose and a year of lovley roast spuds from the fat.We also cook a ham for boxingday.Pigs in blankets a must!! :lol:
