Using this season's liquid nettle feed next year
« on: November 11, 2012, 16:59 »
I have a container full of liquid feed made from nettle and comfry. Can I save this and use next year or will it be no good?

I always keep mine for "An extended length of time" so the 'bits' sink to the bottom of the container and I can syphon off the clear stuff so it doesn't clog up the fine holes in the sprayer.

Cheers,   Tony.

I know some people sling theirs on the compost heap at the end of the season, but I don't - I keep it and it reminds me to start some more when I start using it in the new year!

What ratio to water do you use?

Fill a bucket with nettle tips and top up with water then leave for a few weeks to brew. Dilute about 1:10 (tea:water) for use.

Mrs G spent a deliriously happy half-hour over the weekend, decanting water all over the place, such that we now have 44 gals of nettle/comfrey tea, and 22 gals of 6X tea, and it's going to stay there until spring!

(We walked home several paces apart afterwards, just to be on the safe side...)!

Incidentally, I didn't know that having mosquito 'wrigglers' in the water butt is actually a good thing, as they helps clear the water apparently)!
