All that rain did some good after all
« on: August 27, 2012, 11:55 »
I love my Autumn Bliss raspberries but this year they have excelled themselves.  These are the biggest, lushest fruit I have ever had.  Picked 2 lunchboxes full and the canes are laden with more on the way  :D

The canes are like triffids and I got very wet scrambling amongst them for fruit but who cares with a reward like that  :D  :D  :D

German orange strawberry tom and basil from the greenhouse in the background, plus the first of the apples from the cordon trees in the garden - an early one called Scrumptious :)

My summer-fruiting rasps have been tremendous this year and I have had bowl-fulls sprinkled with sugar - mmmmm!  :tongue2: They have a new cage but didn't get the netting on, but the blackbirds didn't bother them until lately.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

Chicken do-do mostly

They did get mulched very early on in the year when I cut them down, with bark chip that had been raked out of the big chicken run.  When I feed the rest of the plot, they get a few handfuls of pelleted chicken poop slung their way as well  :)

They all look scrummy.  :D

We have a few summer raspberry canes in a pot, rescued from Bella dog last year, weedy looking things. But they produced really well too. Early as well.

Who would have thought that chicken poo could turn into those! Amazing what we eat indirectly.

Glad your raspberries are so good New Shoot  :D We are harvesting ours and they are lush as well

Chicken poo pellets are what we gave them, plus a bit of ash from a friend's wood burning stove.

The tomato looks great too  :D

The tomatoes are lovely - really meaty beefsteaks but can't find any seeds in there when I cut them open to save for next year  ::)

I'll have to curb my greediness and let one really mature on the plant I think

Well most fruit and veg does respond to poo Kirpi but I'll try not to think about it when tucking into the rasps  ;)
