Frontline Kitten strength
« on: August 28, 2012, 13:28 »
I have been struggling to deal with what I had thought at first was feather pecking, but now has turned out to be a lice problem  :(

I have seen from other topics on here that there is the option (although I appreciate it is not regulated for use on chickens) kitten strength frontline.

My problem is I can't seem to track down kitten frontline, I can only seem to find the cat spot on strength version.  Am I able to use this but only a couple of drops?

Thanks Emma

TBH I don't think Frontline do a separate kitten drop any more.  the blurb on the cat drops says it is suitable for kittens over 8 weeks old and weighing more than 1kg

ergo, if your chicken weighs more than 1kg, you should be OK to use it.

However it would be more cost effective if you can buy a spray from the vet (you will need to sign a waiver)

If you prefer to buy out of a pet store, anything which contains fipronil (the active ingredient in Frontline) is OK.

I went to vet and he said that they can use advocaat ... Had to sign to say I know not licenced for chickens ... Don't know if that helps ... The dosage was advocaat for cats 4-8 kilo ... 0.03 ml on back of neck x

Advocate (Advantage multi) contains imidacloprid which is toxic to quail, so it shouldn't be used for these birds (coturnix, bob white and japanese included)
