Councile owned/Self  Managed site, Plot sizes 18m X 10m full plot, no mains water, we carry out all our own site maintenance, if we hold a work party we may get 6 out of 28 plot holders turn up. Full plot £25 a year, Half plot £15 a year.

Just taken over a new allotment site,the site was previously a cricket pitch,which has over grown,my plot is 10x10 mtrs,
The site is edged with trees to 3 sides and a river to the other side,there is no secure boundery,water will be supplied from the river via a diesel pump,filling 100 gallon containers.then removed from site.
There are sheds being made available (at a cost)

The site is owned by a property managment company,who bought the site for development,(housing) but planning was denied

I pay £5 per week.

I would say, yes..............but it depends just how desperate you are to GYO.

It's only about the price of a couple of pints and much better for you

I'm on a council run site
£9.50 per year for 4 poles, with water, which gets turned of in winter (but we all know how to turn it on! Lol )
Not many rules, no animals kept on site and to keep the plot tidy

- Council owned site
- Leased to and run by an allotment association
- Full plot (90ft x 30ft approx) rent is £20 per annum
- Half plot (25ft x 28ft approx) rent is £10 per annum
- Water provided but switched off in Winter
- Voluntary systems for cutting shared paths/boundary repairs etc
- Responsibility of plot holder to cut paths and/or hedges surrounding their plots
- No toilets or other facilities
- Full A4 sheet of rules and conditions (all very reasonable in my opinion). These rules cover things like expected upkeep of the allotment, burning of waste and conduct etc
- Twice yearly inspection of all plots by allotment association

That's about like us with rents being £25 and £12.50 with a £2 membership of the allotment association. Half price for 65 and over. We do have a small shop open Saturday mornings for buying stuff, paying rent and subs and committee there to listen to our gripes.

Yes.. sounds like they're trying to make-up the difference from the development profits by charging tenants over-the-odds for under-sized plots.

Do you have any security of tenancy?  Or is the development company reapplying for planning permission and will shunt you on when they get it?  Are they committed to the site or actively looking to sell it on to someone else?  Do you have a tenancy agreement for the use of the land?
