Anti-Brooding coop... HELP!
« on: August 22, 2012, 15:04 »
Hello my lovely chicken keepers.

So my little Patsy, has been brooding for sometime now, and after thorough investigation and research, letting my little lady have a turn at motherhood just wasn't possible, due to the amount of space we have.

So after various attempts to keep her off the nestbox and after much perseverance we have decided more drastic measures are needed. So we have got a small dog cage to put her in to act as an anti-brooder.

My questions are, How long do I keep her in there for? do I keep her in there overnight? when will i know she is not broody? Can I take her out to run around the garden with my other girls?

So many questions I know, but any advice you can give me will be really appreciated.

Thanking you in advance,

Hello Charlotte,
Casey has written a 'sticky' on this subject

If you recognise early symptoms and signs and start 'treatment' you might break hormones in 5-7 days but it can take longer.
