Hi there got my allotment a few months ago now still clearing and collecting bits for next year.  I have just bought some Grape plants (£2) thought it was worth ago at that price  .  It says on the packet it only grows to 1m, no variety details and in my book it says that most grape plants are only good for wine?

I thought grape vines grew really tall? Is this a mistake?

it depends on the variety, there are some very dwarf ones and some can grow pretty high and can be used to make "ceilings" over patio areas
I assume: what you can drink you can eat as well. But I guess ALDI won't sell tempranillo grapes probably they are Mir, Kardinal or some other grapes for eating

Generally, wine grapes don't grow too tall. And they are edible once you get past the tougher skin.

But, there are always exceptions to the rules. It's possible that your grape plants might not be primarily wine grapes but an all purpose type. Regardless, you can always train grapes to climb if you so wish. It'll be a matter of getting them planted and wait to see how they start growing.
